The wholesome image of Vanessa Hudgens, star of the Disney Channel's popular "High School Musical" movies, took a hit yesterday after the 18-year-old actress/singer acknowledged that a nude photo that surfaced on the Internet was of her.
Hudgens's publicist, Jill Fritzo, told the Associated Press that the photo -- which shows Hudgens standing naked in front of what appears to be a red shower curtain -- had been taken privately.
"It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public," Fritzo said.
Yesterday, Disney Channel denied published reports that Hudgens would be dropped from the cast of "High School Musical 3," saying that the feature film is still in development and negotiations with actors are incomplete.
In the first two "High School Musical" movies, Hudgens plays Gabriella, the brainy love interest of actor Zac Efron's basketball star character. The two are dating in real life.
